Comments: Hello,
I am Charlie Allen's Grandaughter. He used to live in the ol' Bingy house. I signed the gerst book earlier this year and got 2 very interesting responces from people who knew me or my family. since then my computer contracted a virus and I lost everything. It is back up again and would love to hear from you again. Thanks!

Comments: I am only a short drive from Ucluelet and know this area well. I suspected it was a hoax right away when I saw it, although stranger things have happened in the past. With an open mind I searched the net to find it was indeed a hoax. Nice try to the clever individual who tried to keep us and perhaps many tourists out of the waters off Vancouver Island!

Comments: My wife found this site and I have spent more than six hours on here and decided to make an entry.  I have done a little research in the past and know that my grandparents and/or greatgrandparents are orginally from Surette Island.  The spelling today is different, but I believe my grandfather may have added an extra 'r'.  What i know for fact is that my great-grand father was Joseph Surrette, and we believe he was born on Surette's Island, date unknown, probably around the 1860's or so.  He married a Mary White.  My grandfather, Peter A. Surrette, was born on May 5th, 1894, in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.  I know he had brother's and possibly a sister.  One brother I am reasonably sure of is Murray, and another brother I am also reasonably sure of was a Louie, whom I believe with some degree of certainty was a Priest in a small parish in Maine.  I think there may have been a brother anmed William, nor sure on that, and I vaguely recall mention of a sister, but even less sure of that.  My grandfather, Peter, enlisted in the USMC on 10/27/1917, from Boston, Mass.  He was lsited as a RR brakeman and lived in Ipswitch, Mass when he married Jane Lucy Lee of Norwalk, Conn, in Norwalk, on July 21, 1920.  My grandfather had three children--my father, John Joseph, my uncle, William Leslie, and my aunt, Joan.  I know my grandfather's brothers lived in Mass, but am not quite sure where.  I would appreciate any info anyone may have concerning this side of the Surette/Surrette family tree.  This is a great site, the web master is to be commended for doing such a remarkable job of helping to preserve the rich and unique history captured here.  I truly hope to visit Surette Island before my time is up, but in the meantime, I will keep on searching for more roots.  Thanks again for such a wonderful site.

Comments: Got this from a friend in Richmond, BC and thought I would look it up. It didn't seem to unbelievable, I have a few friends that saw a giant sunfish (well over 500 lbs) off the coast by Toquart Bay about 10 years back. However, there have been so many of these "true stories" lately (like the shark attacking the guy in the helicopter) that it's hard to belive anything anymore.

Comments: I received the 'Urban Legend' from my family in BC, we regularly took family vacations to the Island and it was quite concerning to my Mother that we may have been swimming with the sharks as young children!! It was a good try and will definitely scare some folks off the West Coast!!
