Comments: Thank you for such an informative article!
I was quite excited to find it. A few years ago I drove by a home in Savannah Georgia and told my husband that I wanted to return to visit this house as I felt was owned by a Nova Scotian! Sheer speculation, but when I visited "The Forsyth Park Inn" facing Forsyth Park, in Savannah Georgia a few years later, I asked if the original owner was from Nova Scotia and there was a short account of George and Arron "Rutter" Churchill, framed in the foyer.
I feel there is some connection through my genealogy search. I may now have to visit Darling Lake !!

He came from  Prince Edward Island I believe  and all my life (64 yrs) i have ALWAYS  wanted to go there to see what he saw  to maybe even see  gravestones  with  our name on  it..He was so nice and  always had wonderfully interesting stories of the sea to tell me about. He was a merchant marine when he lived there and he married a lady from Glasgow , Scotland  Helen Thomson.

Comments: We have had 35 acres in Sandford that has been untended for many years and would enjoy hearing from locals who might share news or information about the area. We have considered exploring planting Christmas trees there. We need to have a driveway installed as the drainage ditch put in along the road prevents access to the property. I hope to get back up there soon to enjoy the peace and quiet and wonderful view of the sea, and to learn more about what we might do with the land.

Comments: Hi there,

Just wanted to say I loved growing up in Carleton. I moved there when I was only 6 with my family(Miriam, David, Lil David, Barbie, Laurie) I have many friends there and think of them often. When I left in 91, never thought it would change my life. I often wonder what my life would be like had we stayed there after my mom died. What If's, life is full of them. But my life is in Halifax now, and I'm expecting a family of my own in 7 months. I'm having a baby and I plan to visit there with my child someday and tell her/him all about the wonderful people and places there are in Yarmouth.

Comments: The schooner Bluenose is recognized across Canada and much of the New England States as the symbol of Nova Scotia. What symbolizes Yarmouth county across Canada, the USA, Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, with some recognition also in Mexico and Russia?

Do the Americans or Europeans know when their lobster dinner comes from Yarmouth County, or perhaps some times they just know it came from Nova Scotia? Do these same people recognize the Yarmouth Light as unique to Yarmouth, among all those other Light Houses in the World? Tourists that have seen it would brobably remember it, but what if you had to live with a Yarmouth symbol in your house every day? What if it was seen by thousands of people in all of those places mentioned earlier many times a year, and seen twice a year by millions on TV? Is it not time for Yarmouth to give appropriate recognition to this well known and loved symbol? I'll give you a hint. It was developed in Yarmouth County, but the largest number are now in Sweden.
