I have been in Halifax since 1972, but my heart has never really left Yarmouth.
Although I have been married for 27 years and have a great family, I always
seem to think of home, the friends I had (and miss) and the fond memories
of my youth. I always do and always will speak of the community I
grew up in and Yarmouth in general with great pride. Although I visit
home on occassion, I especially look forward to the Acadian Congress next
summer.

E-Mail: jean.hillcoat@ntlworld,com Comments: Only this week have I learned that my paternal grandfather's half brother, Raymond Whitehouse, stayed in South Yarmouth for many years, the last Xmas card being sent in 1992 from my aunt here in UK, to which there was no reply. My grandfather's name was Archibald Gillies. However, I am aware that there was a David Whitehouse whom I presume to be their son. I have a photo of him when he was 20 years of age or thereabouts when I was also sent a cardboard flat pack "All American"!! Doll's House (complete with clapboard effect!) in the 1950's - yes I'm going back a bit! This would make David now about 66 years old - his father would be Raymond Whitehouse of Scottish origin. I have the postal address to which my aunt sent her Xmas cards - and in fact I have a photo of said house taken when my grandparents visited during the 1950's. All this and I have just finished decorating our new coastal weekend/holiday
apartment in the "New England" style!! Would appreciate any local
information/advice - and I would definitely love to visit your area - postponed
our Silver Wedding Anniversary trip a couple of years ago

Comments: I grew up in Pleasant Lake and my parents still live there.
I moved away from Nova Scotia in 1978, but still go back several times
a year, and my husband and I will retire there. It has been nice to discover
this website so I can visit more often!
