Comments: Great website!  I am researching my mother's childhood and know she lived at 23 Clements Street.  She was born in 1923 in Yarmouth and her father was Dr. Thomas A. Lebbetter who owned the house on Clements from 1922-1942.

I have yet to visit Yarmouth but will one day for sure.

Thank you.

Comments: I enjoy so much reading the recent inputs to the log. I guess it's about ime I made another entry myself. There are probably a few of you who remember me, probably more so since Iv'e been making my yearly visits back home, which I so hope I'm able to pull off again this summer. If anyone sees this and would, please remind Winnie Surette at the bank that I still plan on coming up for the reunion next year. If you see her please give her my new email address. I believe I've changed it since I last gave it to her. Wouldn't want to miss out on my invitation. Don't be shy, if you remember me I'd love to hear from you and perhaps we could get to visit this time while I'm at home.
Take Care and the best of all things to my friends and family in Yarmouth.

Comments: I was just looking at the photos of Sand Beach.  Like Marie I remember going down to the beach and enjoy playing in the sand and swimming in the water.  This was in the 50's, it's a shame that people have ruined such a beautiful family area.

My late Mother Hilda Cosman Gorveatt was born in Sand Beach, the daughter of John Edward Cosman and his wife Janie Hubbard Cosman.

I will be attending the HUBBARD family reunion in August, but alas I will not go down to the beach.  It would break my heart to see what happened to it.

Sincerely
Mrs. Ann MacDonald

Comments: Thanks to the Webmaster for his comment on the Yarmouth County Museum.  I am the Marketing Assistant for the Yarmouth County Museum and Archives and I really appreciate the support!!
Did you know that we have the OLDEST EXISTING STAGECOACH IN NORTH AMERICA, which we believe dates back to the 1840's?  It is said to be the most interesting artifact in Nova Scotia!! The coach ran between Yarmouth and Tusket until 1897 when it was replaced by the railroad.  When fully loaded it carried NINE passengers inside and FIVE or more outside!!
Right now at the Yarmouth County Museum we have two exhibits.  One is called 'Three Acadian Artists' which is an art exhibit featuring Frank Boudreau, Maurice LeBlanc and Bruce Jacquard.  The other is called 'Ships of Clare' which features Portraits and information on the Yarmouth sailing ships built in Clare in the late 1800's.  These exhibits will be up until September 30th, so if you get the chance stop in and have a peek!!
If you have any questions about the Yarmouth County Museum and Archives, please feel free to email me.
Have a grate summer everyone, and we look forward to seeing you  :)

Comments: I was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, however, left home in 1963, to join the military.

However, I have kept in touch and watched Yarmouth grow...from a distance.

Over the years I have returned to visit the area and continue to be amazed at how warm visitors are recieved. Forty years have passed since I left home, so I consider myself a visitor.  Many of my "growing-up-friends" are no longer in the area or passed on, and most remembered places I roamed as a young boy are now gone, replaced by homes, malls and the growth of Yarmouth.

I have travelled a great deal, and met many types of people. What has not changed in Yarmouth are the people.  Faces and names changed but the hospitality remains. The people of Yarmouth, those who work in restaurants, hotels, and shops, truly are the finest people I have met.

I wanted to comment and to show my appreciation of the people of Yarmouth, with a thanks that whenever I visit, I am made to feel at home.
Thanks,
Bruce
P.S. someone once wrote: "You can leave home, but home never leaves you."
It's true.

Comments: A couple of summers ago my husband and I visited Yarmouth, for him the first time, for me the first time in about 18 years. It was bittersweet. I have so many memories of growing up in the area ~Darling Lake, actually~

It was good to see all the old places, but having been out of touch so long, no old faces. Planning on visiting through again in a couple of years or so, hopefully.

Would love to hear from anyone who might remember the 'Our Place' restaurant.. or me for that matter

Comments: I visited Yarmouth County last week while on vacation.  It was a wonderful, wonderful day!  I loved the friendliness of the folks we met, the food (rappie pie especially!) and the self-sufficient lifestyle.

I am seriously considering relocating (at least during vacations!) to NS to continue my love affair with the area, the water, the peoples and ofcourse the seafood!

For the short-term where would I start looking for a family that might want an annual house-swap in the Great Smoky Mountain area of Tennessee/North Carolina?

I was born in Cape Breton, but my father was from Yarmouth N.S His mother was a "Surette" I think that's the right spelling. I think I'm a descendant of Phillipe Mius D'Entremont, apparently all the  Muise's Meuse's etc.. were all related. Any help anyone could give me would be so appreciated.

Comments: thankyou sooooooooo much for posting this information, my dad is  Edward Muise he is in the front row next to Walter Hazelton 1940.

My dad passed on in 2002 suddenly,He is missed so much, he was sooooooooo talented, his leathercraft is all over the world. he leaves behind 5 children, (oldest to youngest) Helen,Edward Jr,Glenn,Shannon,Michael and his wife Joyce.

He had a really hard life, being forced to leave school at the age of three to help at home while my Grandfather went to war. But he was incredibly smart and gifted in many ways.

I'm  hoping to make it down east for the Mius reunion and tell people about my dad.
Thanks
