Downtown Yarmouth
 

The down town Yarmouth area is full of things to do for people of all ages. On this site we will focus on the things to do if you are in that age grouping of 13-19 known as teenagers  

If is shopping you like, downtown Yarmouth has over 60 shops for your enjoyment. Yarmouth also has two malls to enhance the shopping experience.  

The downtown area also offers a wide selection of places to eat at. After all teenagers do need to feed their growing bodies. Every thing from Chinese food to Mexican and everything in between is available in the downtown area.  
 

 

 
Yarmouth Harbour Surfin'

Just a stones throw from down town is the beautiful Yarmouth Waterfront.  Sit and enjoy the view of the water, watch the gulls on Gull Island, or dine at some of the fine establishments on the water front.  
 

Frost Park is a nice little piece nature in the middle of down town Yarmouth. Sit and enjoy the relaxing sound of the water fountain or stand in the middle of the Frost Park harbour View "Big Star" and here something surprising?  Frost Park offers a great view of the water front and stunning sunset views. Bring a lunch and enjoy a picnic on the hill.
 
 

 
Another outdoor activity Yarmouth offers a 18 hole golf course for all the budding Tiger Woods out there. For any one who wants to be "like Mike" Yarmouth offers an array of basketball courts both outside and inside. If water is what makes you happy shimmering Lake Milo is a great place to be. The lake is supervised during the summer during the day and has it's own youth center with full canteen facilities, pool and ping pong table, board games, video games, and stereo system.  pool shart :-)For the people inclined to burn in the sun the local YMCA has a wide range indoor facilities available. A swimming pool and spa are supervised at all times and programs for all ages are set up. For those over 18 there is a sauna for ultimate relaxation. 
A fully equipped fitness center is a great way to get pumped up. The YMCA also has two racket ball courts with equipment available at the YMCA at no extra charge. 
The gymnasium is open for what ever sport you feel like playing. If you are the not so active type the YMCA has a elegant snooker table available if you think you are up to the challenge. If the size of the massive snooker table is to much for you a smaller pool table is also available.
 
Right next store to the YMCA is the Quarter Back Club the local pool hall. The Quarter Back Club is a non-alcoholic establishment frequented by the local teens Beside the 9 pool tables the QBC also has a private pool room in the back for those who want the privacy to learn without embarrassment or who just want to relax. If pool is not your thing the QBC as well has an air hockey table and various pin-ball and video games. 

If you are 19 or over and enjoy pool Dooley's a franchise of pool halls is now in Yarmouth. This pool hall offer a relaxed atmosphere with alcohol being served. Due to be finished the summer of 97 the local night club the Red Knight is in the middle of expanding building on a new pool facility. If you are not into pool the Red Knight Also offers a great night of party atmosphere with special live performances every one or two weeks.

 
 
If you are looking for something not so active or fast paced Yarmouth has two bowling lanes for quite but still exciting activity. If you enjoy going to the  movies Yarmouth offers The Twin Cinema. Every week there is at least three different movies playing. In the winter the local area hold public skates two nights a week so strap on your skates and hit the ice.

The Firefighters Museum displays the past and present of fire fighting along with different exhibits which change every two months.
Visiting the Yarmouth County Museum  is like stepping back in time and seeing how life was in the past. The Yarmouth main street is a walk throughout time in itself. Along the down town one can see the buildings which stood a hundred years ago Just look up and you can see the dates that the buildings were built still embedded on some of the building.
Along the down town small black signs can be seen on the sides of some buildings Theses signs tell a story of the past or of the building. For the performing arts fans the Yarmouth Arts Recreation Center  (better known as the Y.A.R.C) has a variety of plays and live music all year round. 
 
 
During the Yarmouth Seafeast week in the summer (Usually the third week of July) the entire community of joins in the Celebration of our seafaring history with a grand parade down main street and many different activities running through the week including the ever popular Buskers street performers. The first week of August brings about the Southwest Nova Scotia exhibition our way. People young and old alike come out to see the exhibits and live performances. Thrill seekers can ride the rides of the "Bill Lynch Midway" and risk there luck on the games of chance. 

These are just a few of the things to do in Yarmouth, so if any one ever tells you there is nothing to do in Yarmouth don't believe them there is always something to do if you want to look
