It has been reported that the amount of
cases of pneumonia in Yarmouth hospital was above normal
and that some seem related to water activities such
as water skying and ski jet boating. This is somewhat substantiated by a government publication that states "Donʼt swim, water ski, or boat in areas where the water is discolored or where you see foam, scum, or mats of algae on the water." http://www.cdc.gov/hab/cyanobacteria/pdfs/facts.pdf |

There are plans to increase the size of the
Woods Mink Facility and to open another in
Concession. Rumor also say that some of these farms
will house 1 million mink. Such a farm alone would almost double the production capacity of the total reported mink production of last year of 1.2 million. A farm this large in this area does not seam possible. |

Published on March 10, 2008: "Wih 85 per
cent of the province’s mink raised in Digby County, the
mink breeders association took the opportunity to set up
its own lab. The lab in Weymouth has become the world’s
second largest Aleutian Disease testing lab, handling
testing for six Canadian provinces. The world’s largest
such lab is in Denmark. " (Source)
(source2) Rumor: There are still students in other parts of this school. Note: The Aleutian disease does not appear to cross over to humans often However: There have possibly been several reported cases in the 1960's (S) |
